Terms of Use

Last updated: 23 August 2026

These terms apply to iSteerMe (the “Service”), including this website, the overthinking assessment, the video story A Ship of Thoughts® / The Captain's Journey, the AI Captain chat and any related resources. The Service is operated by Paul Francis, trading as A Ship of Thoughts ABN 96 147 321 468 (“we”, “us”, “our”).

By using the Service or buying access, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

1. iSteerMe is education, not health care

iSteerMe is a self-guided educational program. It is not therapy, counselling, medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and it is not a substitute for care from a qualified health professional. We are not a registered health service and no therapist–client or practitioner–patient relationship is created by your use of it.

The assessment is a self-reflection tool. It does not diagnose any condition and its results should not be relied on as a clinical assessment.

Nothing on the Service should delay you seeking professional help. If you are struggling, please speak to your GP or a mental health professional.

If you are in crisis or at risk of harm, contact emergency services on 000, or Lifeline on 13 11 14 (24/7). iSteerMe is not a crisis or emergency service and is not monitored for emergencies.

2. Who can use it

You must be at least 18 years old to buy access and to create an account. Younger people may watch the program with a parent or guardian who holds the account and supervises their use.

3. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for everything done through your account. Access is personal to you. Please don't share your login, and let us know promptly if you think someone else is using it.

4. What you're buying

Purchasing gives you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to access and view the program for your own personal use.

“Lifetime access” means access for as long as we continue to operate the Service. It is a one-time payment with no subscription or renewal. We intend to keep it running indefinitely, but if we ever have to discontinue the Service we will give you reasonable notice and, where practical, a way to keep watching.

You may watch the program together with members of your household or with someone close to you — that's how it's meant to be used. You may not, however:

If you'd like to use iSteerMe with clients, staff or a group, get in touch — we're happy to talk about a licence.

5. Intellectual property

All content in the Service — video, audio, text, artwork, characters, the assessment, and the A Ship of Thoughts® and iSteerMe names, marks and system — is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by copyright and trade mark law. Buying access does not transfer any ownership to you.

6. Price, payment and refunds

The price is shown at checkout in Australian dollars and includes GST where applicable. Payments are handled by our payment provider; we do not store your card details.

14-day money-back guarantee. If iSteerMe isn't right for you, email us within 14 days of purchase at support@isteerme.com and we'll refund you in full. You don't need to give a reason. Refunds are returned to your original payment method, usually within 5–10 business days, and your access will end.

This guarantee is offered in addition to, and does not limit, your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

We may change our prices at any time. A change never affects a purchase you've already made.

7. The AI Captain

The AI Captain is an automated chat assistant. Its responses are generated by software, may be wrong or incomplete, and are general in nature. It is not a counsellor, is not a crisis service, and is not monitored in real time by a person. Please don't rely on it for medical, legal, financial or other professional advice, and don't share sensitive information you wouldn't want processed by an automated system.

The AI Captain is limited in scope: it is there for questions about the A Ship of Thoughts framework. It is not for mental health, therapy or medical advice, it is not monitored for self-harm or other risk, and no one is watching it in real time. If you are in crisis or struggling right now, please call Lifeline on 13 11 14 (Australia, 24/7) or 000 in an emergency.

Your conversations with the AI Captain are stored on our systems, and we may access and review them — for example to fix a technical problem, to look into a safety concern or a report of misuse, to improve how the assistant responds, or where the law requires it. We don't read chats casually or for curiosity, we don't use them for advertising, and we never sell them. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail.

Please use the AI Captain lawfully and respectfully. We may suspend access where it is used to harass, to attempt to break the Service, or for anything unlawful.

8. No promises about results

People get different things out of iSteerMe. We can't and don't guarantee any particular outcome, improvement or result. Anything you take from the program is yours to apply, and you remain responsible for your own decisions and actions.

9. Australian Consumer Law

Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies those rights.

To the extent the law allows, and other than under those guarantees: we provide the Service “as is”; we're not liable for indirect or consequential loss; and our total liability to you is limited to resupplying the Service or refunding what you paid us.

10. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the Service available but can't guarantee uninterrupted access — hosting, maintenance and third-party outages happen. We may add to, change or remove parts of the program over time, so long as we don't materially reduce what you paid for.

11. Suspension

We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms, share your login, or misuse the Service. If we do that for a reason that isn't your fault, we'll refund a fair portion of what you paid.

12. Third-party links

The Service may link to other websites or resources. We don't control them and aren't responsible for their content.

13. Privacy

How we handle your information is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version is always on this page with the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll tell account holders by email. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that state.
